They can get pretty crusty so it can take a while. I think you can use a little carb cleaner if you are having REAL problems getting it clean. New gaskets when you put them back on. You should notice this on your tach and speedo. Since you have an 02 you already have the springs on the bellows so cleaning is a snap.
